Presentation Topic: Prepare to Care

Did you know that 1 in 6 Minnesotans is a family caregiver? Come join us to learn from AARP about how we as professionals can better support family caregivers regardless of where they are on their journey; beginning to anticipate a need, helping to coordinate a big move, or taking care of a family member full-time.

Objectives:

1)     Gain insight into barriers family caregivers may face.

2)     Learn why having a good framework makes caregiving easier and how to encourage caregivers to develop their own framework.

3)     Obtain tips and resources specific to supporting older adults and their caregivers.

Speaker: Tom Rinkoski is a Minneapolis resident.   Tom has an M. Ed. and, previous to retirement, served in various aspects of education from classroom teaching to curriculum development, and community education. For five-plus years, he was a Caregiver Support Coordinator for Caregivers of Dementia.  Tom was also a caregiver for his father and mother.
