Joint Public Policy Meeting

Please join us for the Joint Public Policy Meeting between MASWA and SPSWA.  Kari Benson, director of the Minnesota Department of Human Services Aging and Adult Services Division (DHS) will be presenting.  In that role, she also serves as the Executive Director of the Minnesota Board on Aging (MBA).  She will be detailing Minnesota’s efforts and engagement in becoming an approved member of AARP’s network of Age-Friendly States and Communities.

One CEU will be available.

Objectives:

  • Elected leadership must make the commitment to work actively toward making their town, city, county or state a great place to live for people of all ages. How can you offer your support to elected leadership?
  • Learn about what becoming an Age Friendly community entails and how the state is intending to participate in this process.
  • Gain a better understanding of the Age Friendly Community approval process and the role you can play in it.

Speaker:

Kari Benson is the director of the Minnesota Department of Human Services Aging and Adult Services Division (DHS).  In that role, she also serves as the Executive Director of the Minnesota Board on Aging (MBA).  Kari provides statewide aging services leadership and oversees planning for and providing sustainable service and support options to help older Minnesotans live well at home.  Kari manages Minnesota’s state and federally funded home and community-based services programs and critical services such as the Senior LinkAge Line®, Adult Protection and the Long-Term Care Ombudsman.
